A pre-owned Audemars Piguet can provide access to a discontinued Royal Oak or another model no longer available at boutiques. But buyers must assess more than the asking price: authenticity, condition, service history and the reliability of the seller all matter.
Launched on 26 October 2026, The Watch Keepers is Audemars Piguet’s official digital marketplace for certified pre-owned watches. Initially available for transactions in Switzerland and the European Union, it allows eligible owners to sell watches through a process managed by the manufacture.
How Audemars Piguet Certified Pre-Owned Works
Eligible watches must be at least two years past their first sale. Audemars Piguet’s watchmakers authenticate each piece against the manufacture’s records and assess its condition. Listings include professional photographs and a five-point grading system covering the case, dial and bracelet.
Sellers can choose a fixed price or an auction format. The watch remains the seller’s property until the transaction is completed, while Audemars Piguet stores it and facilitates delivery. Buyers receive a certificate of authenticity and a two-year warranty covering the watch’s proper functioning.
What to Check Before Buying a Pre-Owned Royal Oak
Certification does not mean that every watch has been fully serviced or restored. Buyers should read the condition grade carefully, check which original accessories and documents are included, and ask whether any servicing is recommended or has been completed.
Manufacturer authentication establishes that a watch is genuine; it does not guarantee pristine condition, eliminate future maintenance costs or predict resale value. Independent dealers may offer different inventory, pricing and service arrangements, so comparisons should account for the warranty and the watch’s documented condition, not price alone.
The Watch Keepers provides another route to buying an Audemars Piguet, but the usual checks still apply: understand exactly what is being sold before committing to the purchase.
