The Cape Town EDITION has opened at Quay 7, marking the brand’s first African property. With 142 rooms and suites, five dining and bar venues, a rooftop pool and architecture by Neri&Hu, it adds a new international hotel address to Cape Town.

The Cape Town EDITION officially opened on 27 October 2026 at Quay 7, within Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. Overlooking the new superyacht marina and facing Table Mountain, it marks the first African hotel for EDITION, the hospitality brand founded by Marriott International in partnership with Ian Schrager.

The hotel has 142 rooms and suites, including 27 suites. Accommodation ranges from guest rooms with bespoke furnishings and natural finishes to a 112-square-metre Harbour Suite and a 240-square-metre Penthouse.

Architecture and interiors were developed by Shanghai-based studio Neri&Hu in collaboration with Cape Town-based professionals. The building references the industrial warehouses of the historic harbour, with more than six million hand-laid bricks forming its exterior. Inside, African art and locally produced furnishings, including textiles by KwaZulu-Natal's Shuttleworth Weaving, establish a connection with the region's creative industries.

Facilities include a rooftop swimming pool, a spa with five treatment rooms, a couples' suite, sauna and steam room, and a fitness centre. The architectural centrepiece is The Drum, a cylindrical open-air space with a spiral staircase leading to an outdoor viewing platform.

Where to Stay in Cape Town

The V&A Waterfront location places guests within walking distance of the precinct's restaurants, galleries, shops and museums, with access to the Robben Island ferry terminal. The hotel is particularly relevant to travellers combining Cape Town's urban attractions with a wider Western Cape itinerary, including the Cape Winelands and coastal destinations.

The Cape Town EDITION is now open, adding a new option for visitors seeking a centrally positioned hotel with contemporary design, destination dining and direct access to the Waterfront.
