The first Sunreef 100 Eco combines a full sailing rig with electric propulsion, a 770 kWh battery bank and integrated solar generation. Its Monaco Yacht Show debut put the practical question of electric sailing at superyacht scale into focus.

Sunreef 100 Eco Comes to Monaco

Launched in Gdańsk in June 2026, the first Sunreef 100 Eco reached its world premiere at the Monaco Yacht Show, held from 23–26 September. The 29-metre-class sailing catamaran pairs twin 360 kW electric motors with a 770 kWh battery bank and Sunreef’s integrated solar system.

The technology is designed to work alongside the sails rather than replace them. Electric propulsion can provide manoeuvring and assistance in low-wind conditions, while the battery stores energy generated by the onboard solar array. Independent yacht reporting confirms that the yacht is also equipped with conventional generators, making the Eco concept different from a fully fossil-free vessel.

How the Electric System Works

Sunreef integrates photovoltaic panels into the hulls, superstructure and bimini rather than treating them as separate deck equipment. The result is an energy system designed to reduce generator use while preserving usable deck and interior space.

For guests, the most immediate difference is operational: electric propulsion means quieter manoeuvring and low-speed movement, while the sailing rig remains central to longer passages. The yacht also has an Ocean Lounge, a garage and dedicated storage for diving and water-sports equipment, keeping the technology connected to how the yacht is actually used.

The Sunreef 100 Eco is therefore best understood as an electric sailing yacht with onboard energy storage and solar generation—not as a zero-emission yacht in every mode of operation.
