NIXIE yacht: A new approach to large-scale private living

The latest generation of 100m-plus yachts is increasingly defined not only by range or size, but by how owners use the spaces between journeys. The NIXIE yacht, delivered by German shipyard Lürssen in 2026, provides a clear example of this shift: a custom yacht designed around architecture, natural light and life on board.

Built by Lürssen and designed by British studio RWD, NIXIE measures 102.4 metres and will make her public debut at Monaco Yacht Show 2026. The yacht was previously known as Project JASSJ during construction.

Architecture instead of a specification list

The design focus of the Lürssen NIXIE yacht is visible in the relationship between interior and exterior areas. RWD created a profile with extensive glazing and broad deck spaces, while the interior follows a residential approach with bespoke furniture, natural materials and areas designed for longer stays at sea.

One of the defining features is the aft area, where a glass pool extends above the swim platform. Below it, the beach club connects directly with the water through multiple sea terraces, creating a space intended for daily use rather than occasional access.

The yacht also includes wellness and leisure facilities, including a gym, spa areas and cinema spaces. These features reflect a broader direction in large custom yachts: owners increasingly expect private environments that function similarly to contemporary residences.

Why 100m yachts remain relevant

The 102m superyacht category remains a small part of the market, but projects such as NIXIE illustrate why some owners continue to commission large custom builds. Additional volume allows designers to separate guest areas, private spaces, wellness facilities and outdoor living zones without compromising circulation.

NIXIE will enter the charter market through Edmiston after her Monaco Yacht Show appearance, introducing this residential-scale layout to the commercial charter sector.
