Mulberry returned to the London Fashion Week runway on 20 September with Christopher Kane, its new Creative Director of Women’s Ready-to-Wear. His Spring/Summer 2027 debut placed the house’s leather-goods codes at the centre of the collection, with the Bayswater providing one of its clearest design references.
Kane translated the Bayswater’s distinctive notched flap into clothing, repeating the geometry across leather coats, dresses, skirts and knitwear. The collection also retained Mulberry’s Postman’s Lock, including on shoes, while leather became the principal material across much of the accessories and ready-to-wear offering.
The new bags move further from straightforward reinterpretation. The Axe takes its narrow, elongated form from the blade of an axe, while the Chop is a compact, cube-like design inspired by an axe-blade sheath. The Rocker has a curved base, adding a softer shape to the collection’s otherwise angular vocabulary.
Kane also revisited the Piccadilly, enlarging the established Mulberry design into an oversized version. Together, these bags suggest a product direction that combines recognisable house hardware and shapes with a more graphic, architectural approach.
The debut is significant for Mulberry beyond the accessories themselves. The house had not presented a London Fashion Week runway show since 2017, making this a return after nine years rather than the six years stated in the original brief.
The collection is scheduled to arrive in stores and online in January 2027.
