Hassan Hajjaj’s My Rock Stars brings photography, music, fashion and Moroccan cultural references together at the Musée de la musique in Paris, with an original sound work by Acid Arab.

Hassan Hajjaj My Rock Stars in Paris

Hassan Hajjaj My Rock Stars opened on 22 September 2026 at the Musée de la musique, part of the Cité de la musique–Philharmonie de Paris, and runs until 25 April 2027. The exhibition traces the Anglo-Moroccan photographer, designer and visual artist’s relationship with music through portraits of musicians and cultural figures.

Born in Larache, Morocco, and raised in London, Hajjaj developed a visual language shaped by Moroccan, Gnawa, Arab and African influences alongside the reggae, dub and hip-hop culture of 1980s London. The exhibition places these references alongside contemporary international music figures rather than separating them into different cultural categories.

The Musicians and Portraits

The portraits include Billie Eilish, Madonna, Rachid Taha, Lee Scratch Perry, Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz, as well as Gnawa musician Babohot. The presentation also connects Hajjaj’s photography with fashion, design and the visual codes of popular music.

Music is an integral part of the installation. Acid Arab has created an original electro soundtrack combining traditional sounds from the Arab world with electronic bass and rhythms, extending Hajjaj’s photographic approach into the exhibition’s sound environment.
