Amansara Siem Reap has reopened after a renovation programme that updates accommodation, dining and wellness while preserving the former royal residence’s 1960s New Khmer architecture.

Amansara Siem Reap has reopened on 15 September 2026 following an enhancement programme focused on adapting one of Cambodia’s most recognised heritage hotels for contemporary cultural travel. The Aman property remains on Road to Angkor, around 10 minutes from Angkor Wat, giving travellers direct access to the temples of the Angkor Archaeological Park.

Originally built in the 1960s as Villa Princière, a residence connected to King Norodom Sihanouk’s royal guests, the property is known for its New Khmer architectural language. The reopening keeps the original structure as the central element while introducing updated accommodation categories, refreshed interiors and additional guest spaces.

The 24-suite hotel now includes additional pool accommodation, including new pool suites and family-oriented options. Existing suites retain their open-plan layouts, private courtyards and use of materials such as terrazzo and timber. Five suites have received private pools as part of the renovation programme.

Dining has also been updated with a new bar created in the former royal dining room, a space historically associated with King Sihanouk and royal gatherings during the 1960s. The hotel continues to centre its stay around access to Angkor, including guided temple visits and cultural excursions.

The reopening reflects a wider shift among heritage hotels: maintaining architectural identity while adjusting privacy, accommodation formats and experiences for modern travellers. In Siem Reap, where the temples remain the main reason for international visits, Amansara’s position is based less on adding new facilities and more on preserving its connection to Cambodia’s recent history and archaeological landscape.

Amansara is currently accepting reservations for stays following the reopening, with seasonal offers available through December 2026.
