Amankora Bhutan has reopened its Paro and Punakha lodges after refurbishment, restoring the full five-valley circuit with updated suites and new wellness facilities at two key stops.

Amankora Bhutan: What Has Changed

Amankora’s Paro and Punakha lodges reopened on 15 September 2026, following a four-month closure for refurbishment. Both properties received refreshed suites and updates to their shared spaces. The reopening restores access to all five Amankora lodges across Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey and Bumthang.

Amankora Paro

At 2,250 metres in the Paro Valley, the 24-suite lodge is a natural starting or finishing point for an Amankora itinerary. Its wellness programme now includes new Aman Signature Spa Houses, with dedicated hammam and banya experiences. The banya incorporates traditional Eastern European bathing techniques alongside a cold plunge.

Amankora Punakha

Punakha occupies a 300-year-old farmhouse and has 12 suites. Following the refurbishment, its wellness facilities include a steam room, Jacuzzi, cold plunge, bucket shower and relaxation lounge. The additions make Punakha a more substantial recovery stop between the road journeys and cultural visits that connect the western and central valleys.

Planning the Amankora Five-Valley Journey

The significance of the reopening is practical: travellers planning the complete Amankora circuit can once again combine all five lodges rather than using the shortened three-lodge route that operated during the summer closure. Aman currently lists bespoke journeys of seven nights or more, while its full circuit covers all five valleys over 14 nights.
