Many say that it’s a perfect fusion of fashion talent and fantastic personality – Christophe’s personal magnet that keeps drawing people to his oeuvre. After obtaining his degree with the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Appliqués, Christophe Guillarmé managed to invent his own unique style that allowed him to turn his first fashion show in an artistic masterpiece. However, before debuting his first collection as a young fashion designer in 1998, Christophe Guillarmé worked with designers like JC de Castelbajac, Dice Kayek, and Stella Cadente, getting a hands-on experience and polishing his techniques.
“My style is noticeable at the first sight. I'm a real keeper of traditional creative approaches and exquisite finishing: my products are a mix between Glam'Rock and "couture". My ultra feminine manner of conception shows the contemporary way of thinking the glamorous icons,” Christophe says about his style.
Despite his early focus on retail in the Middle East, Western Europe, and the United States, Christophe’s creative goals often brought him to fascinating destinations like India, Turkey, Russia, or Japan. Then, once upon a time at the Cannes Film Festival, the designer managed to build meaningful relationships not just with young actresses but also with international stars such as Hafsia Herzi and Nora Arnezeder. Besides, Christophe Guillarmé has also been invited to several Fashion Weeks in Dubai, Bangkok, South Korea, and the Cannes Shopping Festival, which helped the designer establish himself as a rising star in the firmament of the international fashion scene.
In the course of his career, Christophe also built relationships with famous choreographer and scenographer Mia Frye (The Fifth Element, Thierry Mugler, The Black Dahlia...) that greatly influenced his style and aspirations. This meaningful connection motivated him to stand out not just with his collections but also with his creative approach to stage design.
At this year’s Cannes Festival, Christophe Guillarmé’s fascinating dresses showcased his signature Dolce Vita style which strove to draw attention to red carpet and today’s icons of cinematography. This will surely be the case and on the next year’s festival, where we might expect new fascinating creations from Guillarmé’s mature, yet seditiously glamorous style.
