Matchroom Boxing: A Prestigious night with Two Thrilling World Title Fights at the Casino de Monte-Carlo
@Matchroom
On November 4, four exhilarating bouts unfolded at the Casino de Monte Carlo Salle Medecin arena as part of Matchroom Boxing. This tradition harks back to the boxing matches of the 1920s, once hosted at Monaco's most prestigious venues. In 2023, this vibrant tradition of pugilistic showdowns was rekindled thanks to the legendary British boxer, entrepreneur, and popular promoter Eddie Hearn, in collaboration with the streaming sports platform DAZN. Fighting in front of a VIP audience of over 300 passionate boxing fans at the iconic casino, the event transcended sport, becoming a social gathering that united members of Monaco's royal family, elite international fighters, coaches, influencers, and celebrities.
Matchroom Sport chairman Eddie Hearn said: “It is an honour to be returning to Monaco and the incredible setting of the Casino de Monte-Carlo. We have been privileged to host events here in the past and it is exciting to be coming back on November 4 for what promises to be a memorable evening of elite, championship boxing.”
“The Casino de Monte-Carlo is delighted to be reviving the great tradition of boxing matches that was launched at the beginning of the 20th century. Matchroom Sport is an ideal partner, said Albert Manzone, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, the Monte-Carlo Showdown fits in perfectly with Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer commitment to deliver to our guests and clients unique experiences in one of our most iconic settings. Luxury Gaming at the Casino de Monte-Carlo is associated with high-level competition thanks to these fights.”
The Results:
Welsh professional boxer Joe Cordina successfully defended his IBF super lightweight title, showcasing his skill and endurance against his American opponent, Edward Vasquez, in a grueling 12-round match.
