The Rubens at the Palace & The Milestone Hotel and Residences

London is a lively and bustling city with a lot of energy and a cosmopolitan feel. It is home to many of the UK's wealthiest people and boasts a variety of historical landmarks. It has been shaped by various groups like the Gogi, Magog, Vikings and Saxons, making it a city with endless diversity to discover and explore.

During the Christmas holidays, the editorial staff of iTravel magazine stayed in London at the unique five-star hotels of the Red Carnation Hotels group.

Rubens at the Palace

One of the hotels was Rubens at the Palace, which is located right across from The Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace, the entrance used by the Royal family.

This hotel is the perfect place to enjoy a traditional British hospitality experience. As you approach the building, you are amazed by the sight of an incredibly beautiful living wall that is 21 metres high and made up of 10,000 plants. The soil of this vertical garden weighed about 16 tons! This amazing masterpiece was created by designer Gary Grant of Green Roof Consultancy.

In this hotel, which has been beautifully restored to its historic grandeur, with a total of 139 individually decorated rooms and 12 luxurious suites, guests can expect a truly royal experience.

The Rubens at the Palace offers guests a variety of dining options, including two spectacular restaurants, a lounge with a view of The Royal Mews, three bars, and 24-hour room service. From the mouth-watering Indian flavours of the AA Rosette-awarded Curry Room, to the refined British menu of the elegant English Grill, Executive Chef Ben Kelliher creates culinary experiences that are truly outstanding.

The MILESTONE Hotel & Residences

The Milestone Hotel and Residences is another luxurious five-star hotel from the Red Carnation group, located opposite Kensington Palace and offering exceptional views of Kensington Gardens. This hotel is a true London landmark, recognized by Forbes as one of the best in the world.

The hotel's exterior is modern and sleek, while the interior is elegantly appointed with emerald marble and mirrors in the elevators. The hotel has 44 guest rooms, 12 luxury suites, and 6 residences, catering to all types of travellers, including families, couples, long-stay vacationers, or those taking short trips to the city.

The Grand Master Suites are particularly iconic, such as the Noel Coward Suite, which features art deco touches and priceless antiques, or the Hermès Suite, which boasts lofty ceilings, custom-made furniture, and a romantic balcony.
Breakfast is served in a spacious old office, with oak bookshelves behind glass, but no buffet, while the service is impeccable.

The Milestone Hotel offers a variety of luxury dining options for guests, including fine dining at Cheneston's Restaurant with its elegant mahogany furniture, brunch or afternoon tea in the chic Conservatory, a casual menu at the unique split-level Stables Bar, or the option to enjoy a "picnic in the park" inspired by the hotel's proximity to Kensington Gardens.

The hotel also offers a collection of extraordinary experiences, curated in partnership with local experts.
